In November 2020, the Chief Dental Officer of Canada (CDO) released Human Papillomavirus and Oral Health, which called on all oral health professionals to make HPV education and awareness a priority to improve the health of patients.

BCDHA has done considerable work to develop resources and information for our members to broaden knowledge around HPV and oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) and to provide tips on how to use evidence-based information to educate and support patients in understanding their risk.

We are proud to be one of the first oral health organizations in Canada to fully endorse the CDO’s recommendations.
