Shelley grew up in Nova Scotia and completed her Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Francis Xavier University with a major in microbiology. After moving across the country, she graduated from Vancouver Community College in 1998 with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene.  She has been practicing clinical dental hygiene in the Fraser Health region in a private practice setting for the past 22 years.

Shelley was President of the Greater Vancouver Dental Hygiene Society from 1998 to 2000.  That experience of working with a non-profit society made her interested in becoming a Board Director for the British Columbia Dental Hygienists’ Association.

Shelley is married; with three children and two dogs and brings a well-rounded view of being a working mom along with the challenges of the work/life balance.
