Upper Island Region
Tamara is a true island girl. Born and raised in Victoria, she feels very lucky to experience island life with wonderful friends and family. She graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Science and Camosun College with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene. Tamara has been fortunate to work in the same private practice for over 20 years building many long-term relationships with clients and colleagues.
In 2016, Tamara began dividing her professional time between private practice and teaching in the dental hygiene program at Vancouver Island University. Interests include a focus on clinical instruction, communication, and technology. In addition, she has assisted in the production of educational dental podcasts, developed websites for dental offices, and has been a moderator for an online learning platform that provided business training for dentists through webinars.
When Tamara is not working, you can find her walking her westie (Bentley) on the local trails, paddling her kayak along the scenic oceanfront of Qualicum Beach or skiing the slopes of Mt. Washington. She is also still chasing the elusive hole-in-one on the many challenging golf courses in the mid-island area.
Giving back is important to Tamara for a profession she is passionate about. She has volunteered her time to provide dental hygiene services to community members in need and is excited about the opportunity to serve as the upper island representative on the board over the next 3 years, connecting with members and learning more about the profession.
